We drove down to San Diego on Friday night so we could wake up early to start the hike. The drive to the campground where the trailhead is located was beautiful. This was my first time on a paved fire road for the entirety of the hike. In a way it made it seem easier to me. But surprisingly I was quite sore after this one. You could clearly see the top of the mountain from the bottom, so you knew how much you had to go. We did a slow and steady pace going up. The plants started getting more lush once we reached a higher elevation. It was very pretty. At the top you could see other mountains. It was amazing to see how far we'd come up in a short amount of time. Going down was a little hard and my legs got shaky, so I had to take some breaks for that. Overall a nice hike in a cool part of SoCal that I never really knew about before.
