Hike #5: Mount Wilson
Magical mystical morning. SoCal was having an unusual cloudy rainy morning, which meant my hike was taking me deep into the clouds. What started as light mist turned into a deep fog the whole way up. To say it was humid is an understatement. I was completely drenched from head to toe for my entire climb. The humidity brought out the decadent fragrances of the eucalyptus and sage growing throughout the forrest. I truly felt like Mother Nature was cleansing me from the inside out and it was everything my soul needed. Feet on the ground with my head in the clouds.
This hike was my biggest elevation gain at about 4900ft. A bit anti-climatic to get to the top and just be met with a parking lot. I’ve been loving the signs at the top of these hikes so I was bummed there wasn’t anything to pose with. The sun burned off some of the clouds by the time I made my way back down so I did get some views toward the end.
This hike definitely pushed my body to the test. I’ve got my final steepest hike this coming weekend, but there’s a small (crazy) part of me that wants to keep with the momentum I have and do the other 3 biggest peaks in SoCal… we shall see what adventures await! Happy Hiking.
