I think we had the best possible weather for this hike and time of year (scattered thunderstorms the day before and relatively cool temps the morning of). There was mist still clinging, and at places lightly swirling, above the landscape. The moisture blocked much of the view ahead of the peak itself, leaving us a walk into the clouds. It also brought out an aroma, a genuine botanical essence, as we made our way up (and down and up and up and down and up and down and down) the trail. At our early start we mostly saw stout-of-heart trail runners (impressed!). A peek at the peak on our descent, with the weather then cleared, gave me respect for all who tackle it.
