Had a partner so picked a Tuesday to avoid crowds. Started hike a 6:30 am. We were doing a loop with Winter Creek so in order to avoid the uphill at the end of the hike we started off towards Sturtevant Falls, which was going pretty well. The trail is a really great – beautiful way to spend a day. This time of year provides us with some vibrant colors of green. We were lucky enough to have a “foggy” day at the bottom of this trail and a great climb out to a bright sunny day. Super cool looking down on the pillows of white throughout the basin. You could still see some snow on Baldy and other peaks poking out of the sea of white. After a lunch by the Cosmic Cafe, we set out through the Eton burn scar. Super sad to see this. The trail requires some careful steps, but nothing too sketchy. We had to remind ourselves that in time mother nature will begin to repair herself as we saw when hiking through the Bobcat scarred area. Made it back with 15 miles logged and had a beer at the cafe in Chantry. Was a great day.
