I hadn't been on this trail in at least 30 years. Back then we did the run to the peak as an informal half marathon. Well, I was 30 years younger then. This time around I hiked, jogging some when trail conditions lent themselves to doing that. Downhills, where I might slip, are difficult for me these days. Okay, so I'll be 70 in 3 months. But we made it up okay, took time at the top for refreshments, photos and visits with others, and made it down in one piece. Our whole journey was 2 minutes shy of 5 hours. It's a difficult hike but well worth it. We took time to enjoy the vista and play. Oh, and the weather was perfect on this date. I recommend going early in the day to beat the heat.
