I always have felt a bit silly hiking on ski mountains. Watching people ride a gondola or lift to the summit while I schlep myself up a steep trail one step at a time is a certain kind of self-cruelty that only peakbaggers can understand. I have a similar feeling when I hike up a mountain where the summit is accessible by road (hello Paulina). But it's the only way I feel I earned the darn thing! And lets face it – there is a sense of pride in hiking up a mountain where people are usually only focus on the ‘down' part (and at high speeds).
I expected Bachelor to be a much nastier climb than it was – I enjoyed myself so much that I'm already on many returns. What a gem of a trail so close to town! With great views and the ability to get the heart pumping, too.
