I moved out to California in 2017 and it took me 4 years to get out and hike! I had hiked before but always the touristy hikes. It sounds silly but yes, I didn't know about the National Forests. It wasn't until this crazy year of 2021 where it clicked in my head, I needed to do more. I turned 30 on April 20th and hadn't seen much of the world so I challenged myself to do a hike to someplace different every weekend and Strawberry Peak was my first actual real peak and it did not disappoint!
I started early in the morning by myself as always and had the trail to myself. I remember taking a wrong turn and looking up to a really big hill but thankfully I had looked down at my map and noticed I was indeed on the wrong trail but that's okay since adventuring is the best part. I really enjoyed hiking this one up until the last quarter mile when the trial was a straight shot up……Once I got to the summit, I had the whole place to myself and damn it was gorgeous up there.
For about 10 minutes I hung out up there ate a snack and started on my decent and then I started to run into people coming up. When people always ask why I got so early, it's so I can enjoy the views from up top all to myself.
The one thing I did forget and I wish I would've brought……STRAWBERRIES!! And yes, I wore pink to match the peak title because why not?
