Ok, so I have to admit this hike was very challenging for me. I consider myself an experienced hiker as I have backpacked the Grand Canyon twice. I had read many of the reviews on AllTrails and none of them were accurate in the description of this hike. The first part of the hike was peaceful and easy to to hike. The last mile was an extreme incline with numerous rocky and difficult sections. Often times our poles were a hinderance and we wanted to stow them, but a dozen or so steps later we needed them again.
It was a huge sense of accomplishment to complete such a challenging and technical hike, but I wish I would have had better information on the details of this hike.
The temperature was hot late morning and into the afternoon. The trail is exposed and recommend having adequate sun protection. The bugs were very annoying, and the bees were very prevalent in and around all of the bushes. The short lunch break we had was frustrating with trying to swat the flies and bees away from our food.

Lol I’ve learned to look on AllTrails for people with similar split times as me on hikes I think are comparable … otherwise it’s deceiving with some of the reviews. “Nice easy hike” – um, no. It’s like a 45 degree incline.
Agreed—I’ve found the hike logs here to be better resources than AllTrails in many cases!
