Got a late start and the heat was almost unbearable. Some shade spots with a slight breeze saved me. Bring plenty of water, I had 4 Liters and electrolytes which helped. Even though this was stated as an easier hike, dont let that fool you. The heat combined with the steep slope to the peak made this hike challenging. Peak had amazing views, no shade but nice breeze so we soaked up some views and rays… Not a good summer hike unless you start at sunrise. I talked to Forest Service and they stated All trails North of the 74 remain closed including Santiago peak due to Holy Fire untill further notice!

  1. Awesome, temps today are so much better. Too bad I cannot chose my days off, lol…. glad temps are dropping. I need a cool hike without having to drive to the Sierras….
