Nice hike that is partially shaded. Parking lot doesn't open until 8am, so get there early if you go on a weekend. There was a lot of people using the parking lot for picnics, swimming and fishing. Trail was not very crowded. I only saw a few folks on the trail, but when I got to the scenic overview that looks toward Sedona, there was about a dozen people enjoy the view, listening to music and have a snack. I decided to also hike the trail to the canyon overview that goes north at the split. It is a nice relatively flat hike through mostly shaded areas that ends up with some great views looking toward oak creek canyon and the san francisco peak farther to the north. It adds a couple of miles to hike, but if you have the time and it is not too hot, it is a nice addition to the hike. The trail is in good shape going up, but going down, there are loose rocks that you need to be careful of.
