Wonderful easy long hike!
Arrived around 10am to the hot springs mt trail head on Los Coyotes Indian Reservation. Very pretty drive in, my first time visiting the area. Had the whole place to myself never saw a single person other than the gate guard into the reservation
Weather was cool a little storm had just hit the day before made the first 2 miles comfortable to hike. I would agree with everyone saying the first 2 miles is the hardest of the climb. The trail is all fire road perfectly taken care of, makes for an enjoyable hike. Once you make it up the steepest of the climb, you wind threw beautiful San diego mountains pines. I absolutely enjoyed it!
The summit had beautiful 360 views with small patches of sleet ice remaining from the storm but it was nothing to worry about. Climb the sketchy ladder to the top off the rock just to say i did it and climb the highest point in San Diego.
I would definitely recommend this hike to anyone looking for a rewarding climb in San Diego. Honestly didn't even feel like i was in our local mountains on a good section of the trail.
10 out of 10 will do it again!
