Wow! This hike is gorgeous! It's hard to believe this is in the San Diego area. When I posted pictures from the hike to Instagram, friends asked if I had hiked this in my home area in the Ozarks. Once you get past the first few miles (Total butt-burners!), you are among pines, trees, wildflowers, and cute little forest critters like small rabbits and squirrels. The hike went by quickly because of the beautiful surroundings. We made it to the fire tower in less than two hours and then continued on to the actual peak. Most of the trail is wide, then narrows for the short stretch between the fire tower and the peak. We scrambled up the boulders at the peak and were rewarded with even more fantastic views. The way down was a bit tough because the sun and the flies were out by mid-morning. Overall, fantastic trail! Gorgeous hike! I'd do this one again in a heartbeat.
