Gate to get to the campground and trail head does not open until 8am. When you reach the stop sign at the entrance of Los Coyotes Reservation you stop here checkin and pay starting at 8am. Entrance fee is $10 per person. Everyone was super friendly and helpful, there's also a bathroom here that you can ask to use.
This 11 mile hike is great and once you gain some elevation you are in pine forests which is beautiful. On the summit you have spectacular views and can watch glider planes being towed to altitude and released right over the summit.
To reach the summit there is a ladder and some ropes to help climb up. The fire watch tower is pretty unstable in any of the easy ways up.
