This hike could have been one of my favorites.  Tough but not killer and the views and forest are great.  But today the bugs ruled. All 10 miles I battled biting flies  gnats and assorted other winged terrors.  To stop for even a short time got you buzzed and bitten.   If you go anytime soon, bring a bug net and long pants and shirts.  I wish I had a beekeepers outfit today.    I had the trail to myself today.  I arrived before the gate guard and left my 10 dollars in the overnight slot in the door.  Spoke with security on the way out and they recommended leaving your vehicle information and hike plan with the money.  Bring your own envelope. This is definitely a cool weather hike and would do it again.
