I hiked this trail with a friend. It’s a wide trail for almost all of the hike. At the summit you take a narrow trail to the right to the high point where there are boulders that you can climb up via a ladder and some type of climber’s material with knots on it.
I climbed up the ladder & onto the nearest boulder holding onto climber’s material with knots on it closest to me but didn’t go any further as my legs are short and to reach the other climber’s “rope” looked a little sketchy to me. Then, we walked around the boulder where we found a narrow opening to play around in. We also were able to walk around further and see the front of the boulders. I enjoyed completing my hike for the challenge.
Afterwards we walked over to the old fire tower and took some pictures from a boulder on that side before heading back down the trail. The views were spectacular here. We could see lots of peaks and all the way to the Salton Sea.
My favorite part of the hike (besides the peak) was being under the trees as I love trees and there was the added bonus of seeing and hearing the birds. There were bluebirds, woodpeckers, jays and more flitting about and taking off as they heard us coming. Two California quail ran across my path as I concluded my hike.
We took the Quiet Trail on the way back. It just added an extra mile of uphill and obstacles as there were a number of fallen trees.
