This was hike number five of the San Diego six pack. I hit the trail at about 815 with my canine friend, Mr. Riggs. It was just over 40° when we started but I got warmed up pretty quick since the steepest section is at the beginning of the hike.
Overall, this was my favorite hike so far on the six pack. It had a well-maintained trail, lots of trees and shade, and beautiful vistas. I would say that this hike is very dog friendly.
Yes, the bugs became an annoyance. It seem like they were asleep early in the hike and then there were a lot on the way back down. For the first time, I was stung in two places by the yellow jackets. I talked to other people, and the same thing happened to them. Wear long sleeves and long pants and bring bug spray.
I climb to the tippy top of the peak, using the ladder and ropes that were there. Well, Mr. Riggs watched.A great view from up there!
