Like previous year I started this hike from the Mt Umunhum trail head. No matter how may time you visit this beautiful mountain it is always so serene and nice to hike the trails.
It was Fall time and the weather was perfect for a beautiful hike. I was little late to arrive at the parking lot but was lucky enough to get a spot. It was only around past 8.00 am. The Mt Umunhum trail looked fresh at this time of the year with the fall ambiance. Did a quick trip up to the peak. All renovation works that was on during last year was completed. There were few other hikers, runners and visitors enjoying the view across the vast greenery below the mountain. The skies were clear and I could see as far as Mt, Diablo and also Mt Tamalpais was hazily visible. I spent a while taking few pictures and as I headed back to the trail head, decided to take a detour to hike down the Barlow road trail until it meets the Woods trail. It was a good downhill hike and to reach back the parking lot, I had to climb back almost 1700 ft of elevation. It was yet another wonderful and memorable hike.
If you have not been there this is a must hike if you live in and around the Bay Area, for sure.
