Yep, lost my lunch. I’ll get to that later…

Wanted to switch things up since I’ve previously hiked the Angelus Oaks route to San Bernardino Peak.  I opted for the 18 mile Forsee Creek/John’s Meadow loop which takes you over Anderson 10,850’,  San Bernardino East 10,691’, and San Bernardino 10,649’.

The road to the trailhead is rough with ruts, rocks, and plenty of bumps, no problem for the Subaru Crosstrek but I wouldn’t want to take a sedan or mini van.  At the parking area a mini army of local mosquitos greated me, but up on the trail the bugs weren’t too bad.

The Forsee Trail is steady climbing, nothing too steep, but consistent all the way to Anderson Peak. It was mostly forest with some exposed burn areas. Some easy off trail navigation is needed to get to Anderson Peak.  The San B’s both have distinct access trails. Each peak is unique with great views of San Gorgonio.

The sections between Anderson and San Bernardino are really neat, walking through trees, some interesting rock formations, views toward Big Bear and San Jacinto.

Notable parts are the summits, Washington Monument, Manzanita Flats, Limber Pine Bench, and John’s Meadow.

John’s Meadow trail is awesome! It winds through a tree lined valley, crosses several streams, has lush green sections. It get’s steep and loose in a few sections with some of the tightest switch backs. Definitely worth a try for an alternate route.

So, I was feeling great the whole hike until I got to my car. Blame it on the lower elevation heat, not enough electrolytes, warm drinking water, and getting bounced around on the dirt road from the trailhead back to CA38.   Too much for me, poor stomach couldn’t handle it…  Sorry for the people that may have witnessed that.
