I got talked into this one on account of being convinced that the ski lifts would cut about 3 miles out of the hike. Imagine my surprise when, starting from Manker, we only saw the lifts after about an hour of hiking… and we were 100s of feet above them. Obviously nonplussed (they apparently have their own parking lot)
Regardless.
This was actually a fun hike; several false peaks build up the anticipation before we got to Baldy proper, we hit a small cabin on the way back down with cold, fresh spring water to refill our packs and rest for a bit. Even then the downhill was a bit treacherous, watch your footing.
