Made it to Icehouse Canyon! There were no crowds at 5:30am on a Thursday. Excited to start on the trail but was lagging a bit due to altitude, being tired from waking up at 2:30am for the two hour drive, but slowly made our way up to the saddle. It was very pretty along the creek. We spotted beautiful blue birds and heard many birds and crow chirping and chasing each other. The forest was pretty and squirrels abundant.
Once we reached the saddle, we had a snack and carried on. Met a couple nice people along the trail and after the switchbacks and great views, we were at the top overlooking LA. This hike was one of the ones I want I complete the most because of the cool rocks and Instagrammable photos. We saw a few people only at the top, some campers. After a second snack and photos, we made our way down to the large Xmas tree and headed up the secret trail to Bighorn Peak and then Ontario (separate post). Total we did 17.5 miles. It was the longest hike ever for me.
