Cucamonga Peak via Icehouse Canyon was amazingly beautiful. I definitely want to do this trail again in the spring. When I went a few weeks ago, the trails were super icy and snowy. Sections were heavier with snow and other sections were icier. It really was a mixed bag. I got by with microspikes and poles but there were sections I think crampons would be better suited for. If you plan to hike this mountain after a storm, definitely come prepared with all the winter tools and take it slow. It was pretty cold but I was prepared with layers. It took us a bit more time then expected due to my friend's dog struggling on the hard ice– large chunks of ice were falling out of the trees creating a slippery trail. It was hurting his paws so we had to keep stopping to give him a break/encourage him. As well, the ridge lines were especially difficult to traverse and we had to walk slowly to ensure we had steady footing. It was definitely one of the more difficult winter hikes so far but I am excited to have completed another six pack peak before high spring season. The only bummer was that we couldn't find the wooden sign at the peak!
