I’m pretty sure my jacket is not waterproof, maybe just water resistant, or maybe the winds helped the water get in. Either way, this was a very cold, wet, rainy, snowy, windy hike and I loved every minute of it! Now I’m just hoping I don’t get sick because of it!😬
It was raining from the beginning, but stopped by the time I passed the rock climbing wall. Not too long after that it started snowing. From about mile 3 to the top there was snow covering the ground, but most was gone by the time I was heading down. It was very windy, especially on north or west facing stretches, like at the summit, so I didn’t stay long. Just took my celebratory picture, ate my celebratory pb&j and drank my celebratory hot chocolate then scurried back down. I didn’t feel the cold so much on the way up, but spending a few minutes at the top did it. Don’t know if the water got in my jacket, or if the wind started cooling the sweat, but it was cold! Forecast called for 20-35 mph winds with mid 30s temps and a windchill of just over 10 degrees and it felt every bit that cold!
Didnt see anyone on my way up, just some rabbit and raccoon tracks in the snow, but passed three people on my way down. Took me right about 3hrs 45 mins to complete the hike.
