This hike always has my number. It's uphill both ways, no joke. The trail itself is pretty rough most of the way with deeply eroded areas and multiple rock scrambles at very steep angles. I have a Six Moons sun umbrella with the hands free attachment kit for my pack and it was a lifesaver. There are a couple of areas of shade but not much. The final trail to the summit is hard to find but look for the green markers to show you the way. Whoever did that is genius. We did the side trail to the mines, it's short only 0.1 mile. Caves aren't deep but are nice and cool. Keep your eyes open, there were rattlesnakes and they blended well with the rocks so you had to look very closely to see them.
