My hiking buddy Jo and I set off early from the bottom of the Butte around 830am. Not many parking spaces so parked on the road. Most of the hike was through the forest and it did rain for a short while but once we were about a mile and a half from the top there was a cold wind all the way and we were glad for our light jackets. As we reached the summit it was cold and foggy with ice on the trees but we braved it to take photos in our t shirts. The views on the way to the top were amazing and as we hiked down with sleet part of the way it cleared again. No picnic at the top like our first hike in the series! Glad we started early as busier on the trail on the way back but once passed the parking lot for the shorter hike we did not meet so many people. Yet again another great hike in great company. Loved all the trees, wildflowers and flowering bushes….even the rain, sleet, wind and fog made it an adventure. Total hike from the bottom was 10.73 miles and took around 4hrs 45 mins.
