Today's goal was to summit San Bernardino Peak. My 13th summit of this mountain and my hiking partner's (Sarah) 1st, as she continues to train and prepare for her trip to attempt summit Kilimanjaro.

We arrived at the trailhead right around 0530. It was packed! But, to my surprise I got to see so many hiking friends and hiking groups at the start of the hike and throughout the trek. 3H (Hiking for Health and Happiness) was out in force. Always a pleasure to get to see Richardo and Maglory Cruz, as well as so many other familiar faces from that group, way too many name here. And a special meeting with my Trail Angels Thuy, Thao, and Shirleen. We all leap frogged up and down the mountain most of the day. On our way down we had the pleasure of running into my friends from the San Diego Happy Feet hiking group.

The trail was in great shape. Very few obstacles (down trees and some snow near the summit), but all were easy to navigate around. Weather today was perfect. Very mild temps on our ascent. As always, it began to warm up a bit as we hit the lower elevations. But the intermittent shade and slight breeze, kept it manageable.

All in all, another great day on the trail, with great friends and hiking groups to share it with.
