The temperature was almost perfect for this hike. We enjoyed ourselves all the way to the summit but about 2 miles on our way down we were both in extreme pain. There is a lot of jumping / climbing down on the way down and our knees and feet were definitely feeling it and were beyond exhausted by the time we got back to our cars. (There was a ton of complaining and cursing ourselves as we made our way down haha.) Anyone who says this is an all-day hike and you should start early is 100% correct. We started our hike at 6am and returned to our cars at 6:30PM. The views and vistas are truly breathtaking and we are both glad we were able to summit prior to the unfortunate Cranston Fire that started this week. We hope the trail will open again this year so that other Six Packers are able to hike San Jacinto Peak.
