Parked at the entrance parking lot in the State park. Had to pay $10.  Wilderness pass doesn’t work for state parks. Took Azalea loop up and fire road down. it was a beautifully maintained trail. With lots of different foliage. Beautiful manzanita. Some pretty vistas overlooking a small body of water. A decent amount of hikers on the trail. Nothing too strenuous. I didn’t even use my poles going up. I loaned them to a friend who was more of a beginner. It helped her. The sun was out. Didn’t need much in terms of layers. Hat came off soon. Some twists on the way up. Cross a beautiful meadow, but it was off trail. So headed back on trail through Conejo Trail. Some boulders but nothing too strenuous. When we hit the fire trail, you could see a paved road. We took that road up to the summit. That was the toughest incline. Just pacing your breathing and steady going up . Beautiful views from the top. And coming down on the road wide-open and less foliage. There’s even an option to walk through the campground and use the restrooms, On your way back to the car.
