I started at sunrise and it was cold but not too cold. The sun felt warm as it started to come up over the mountains. There were some clouds in the sky and I wondered if the sun would stay or get covered completely by the clouds. About a mile from the peak, the wind started blowing, the sun was eclipsed by clouds, and it was considerably colder. By the time I reached the summit, it felt like winter, frigid, wind blowing, and completely engulfed in the clouds. I didn’t stay long and quickly bundled up before making my way back down the mountain. It was a beautiful day and while it felt like summer transitioning into fall at the base, it definitely felt like winter at the top of the mountain. It’s inevitable – winter is coming.
