The first takeaway from this hike I got was: I'm glad I did the higher and more difficult Humphreys Peak first. This one while billed as a strenuous hike was actually far easier than Humphreys despite the rough unpaved road leading to the trailhead. Not too many roots from trees straddled the trail and the rocks weren't loose scree and talus and above all no false summits to discourage. Going up I met a couple who told me they found a baby's hat and tied it to a plant to prevent it from being blown away and requested me that if I were to meet a couple with a baby, I was to inform them where their child's hat was. I later met the couple and passed the information, even showing them the photo I took of the hat when I passed it. They thanked me for the information and we continued our separate ways. There were several hikers but otherwise the trail was all to myself. I surprised myself by speed hiking on this trail. I made it to the hut in two hours. I took photos and then resumed towards the lookout. It took me 15 minutes from the hut to reach to the summit. I took photos, had a meal then rested before heading back down. Because this hike took place on September 28, Balangiga Encounter Day, I also dedicate this hike to the Waraywaray patriots who fought in that battle.
