Friday was the perfect day to take a hike up to Mount San Jacinto peak. Weather conditions were perfect; sunny, clear sky and just a little breezy. This was the second time we've climbed to this peak and the San Jacinto wilderness is incredibly breathtaking. The views from the peak went on for miles. Not too many other hikers up there today, so we were able to get our “summit selfies” without the crowds. We're going to hike to this peak from Marion Mountain sometime this year, but I wanted to do a “practice run” from the Tram before we attempt to summit from the steep Marion Mountain trail. It's still a tough one from the tram. Once we hit Wellmans at 9700′ I really start feeling the altitude. My heart beats fast and I have to slow my pace quite a bit. The first time I did this hike and had to scramble up the boulders to reach the peak I was terrified because I didn't know what to expect. I was also a little overwhelmed at that time since I'd never been up that high before. This time it was not a problem! I guess I'm getting used to climbing all these mountains! It was another great day in the mountains, and the tram ride is always a lot of fun too.
