I totally underestimated Mt Wilson. Being in the Infantry when I served I thought piece of cake. I fell on my sword. I had been doing 5 mile hikes in lower areas and I was foolish to not prep for this. I got dehydrated. I should have known better. Shame on me. Went hardcore the first 5.5 miles and decided to de-layer and drink water. Once I took off my wind breaker and saw that my shirts were completely wet with sweat I knew I had blown it. About a mile further I started to cramp up. The hikers I was with didn't push me and let me lead. Had to stop about 8 times on the final 3.25 miles up. I had never seen my muscles ripple like that. Made it painfully to the top and rested and had some lunch and started painfully down. Lesson learned. Prep and constantly drink water. The trail was nice and the view from up top was amazing. I will come back and do this bad boy again. Cucamonga Peak is next and I will be looking for companions.
