Last of the six pack challange! I put this hike off till last because it is the furthest distance from where I live, and because I figured the weather would hold out longer due to the lower elevation
Getting to the trail wasn’t too difficult with it being early fall. I got a late(ish) start and was still able to get a parking spot at the lower lot. I paid the $5 and set off on my way after getting some fun facts from the parking attendant.
I decided to do the incline to Barr trail loop as my route. The incline was exactly how you would imagine it would be when you look at it. A big, long, cardio nightmare! Now I’m in pretty good shape after a long season of climbing but this one definitely packed a punch. I made it up the incline in just a couple min over an hour.
After reaching the top I continued on to the summit of Rocky Mountain! It was difficult finding the trail, probly partly due to low use and partly due to the fall leaves dropping on the trail. Like others, it was a little confusing finding the “summit”. All trails marked the summit in a different location than the six pack site. Regardless, the day was beautiful and the weather was perfect so I made the trek to both spots to be sure I actually Summited.
The way down was a breeze I really appreciated the lower grade on the way down!
I had such a great time doing this challenge, can’t wait to see what peaks will be on the list next year!
