Having driven 2 hours to get there, we couldn't figure where to safely park so didn't get to stsrt until 7am. Highly recommend start at 6am to avoid scorching heat on the way down. Btw, no bathroom so highly recommend driving by camp ground for clean toilets before your adventure. First 2 miles are cardio hike with slight elevation and gravels, uneven terrain with switchbacks and shades. Keep markets, take photos of your paths and we even used sticks to point to several forks on our paths to save time navigating on our way back. Beautiful scenic foliage view with wide dirt roads, some motorists and several hikers came up when we went back. Tower with flag was closed to the public for climbing to the top, benches at the top for scenic lunch break and highly recommend jogging down to save time. What an adventure to do all 6 San Diego peaks for 2024 goal. Time to grab our cold beer to celebrate. We wanted to finish our 6 pack LA challenge but the recent fire has closed down most of the LA peaks.
