So…set out to climb San Bernadino Peak, but fire had closed the trail. Quick decision to rambo over to San Jacinto, and I'm glad I did. It was still early enough to avoid the sun. Made my way up the to the peak in quick fashion, 07:00 start, summit at 10:30. Chilled at the top for 30 minutes to take in the views of the fires and surrounding mountains. Then headed back down. By this time the sun was merciless and began to sap my strength. Kept a steady jog/yog pace and made it back down the trail doing the loop. Returned to the car at 13:30 completely and utterly exhausted and have never felt more spent. Even my 70.3 ironman was a little easier. 6:30 hours on the trail and a few new blisters (badges of honor). Two more to go before my 42nd B-day on 10/6.

By the way this is only my 4th hike in my life (excluding a few 1 or 2 hour bunny slope hikes)
