I completed my third hike for this year’s NorCal Six-Pack of Peaks! 19 miles roundtrip to Rose Peak and back. Phew! We went from the Sunol side. I've done most of my peak hikes solo, but I had two friends join me this time. One just for the beginning, and one for the whole day. It was a long but very nice day. Definitely a good time of year for it with rolling green hills and plenty of wildflowers. This hike was longer than my last peak (Sizer) but way easier. The steepest part was between mile 3 and 4. The rest was a pretty gentle and continuous uphill, not lots of up and down.
I was able to refill water at Doe Canyon Horse Camp, very close to the top. It's close to the main trail but a steep little hill getting down there. I treated the water, but there was plenty of it. I believe there are other water sources along the way as well.
