Keep in mind that I haven’t had much endurance training lately, but when all trails says this hike is moderate, I’m so sure I believe it. The distance may be shorter but it’s got some decent amount of elevation change in that short distance. The second half of the trail going up was still really snowy, and due to the rising temps, slushy and slippery. Crampons and trekking poles are needed. It was great to be out in the beautiful weather and it didn’t get really windy until towards the end. I definitely had many parts of the trail where my heart rate and breathing were really elevated, but that made me feel more accomplished when summiting. The company of those hiking with me was also pretty great.

Congrats! I am planning on Freel Peak on 6/15 if the road is open. Want to join forces and make this climb?
