I decided to hike Maiden Peak from the Maiden Lake trailhead because it cuts about 4 mi off the total distance to the summit and back. The first 4 miles are a very well maintained trail but the last half mile is a very steep scramble.

A busy summer has got me behind schedule so my intent for the day was to bag two peaks which I ended up accomplishing. In the afternoon I drove up and checked off Black Butte.
