Our team at work planned a sunset hike for Black Mountain. Unfortunately the weather did not cooperate and it was cloudy and gray. We hiked the the backpackers camping site first and put down our packs and then went to the summit. We learned from a coworker that Mountain View, CA is named after the fact that it has a view of Santa Cruz Mountains of which Black Mountain is one of. We could see our work home Apple Park from a point near the peak. We headed back down to the camping site and made ramen for our group of 10. After we listened to some sunset music and ate our dinner, 8 of us hiked back down to the parking lot while 2 stayed the night and camped. On our hike we saw a few turkeys, many dear, and some birds. This was an easy hike and it mostly uncovered. I can't wait to go back for a better sunset view above the fog layer.
