Went on Memorial Day. Weather was good for hiking with cool temperatures. The clouds stayed around the top of the mountain so views from the summit were completely socked in. Probably ok as this hike the summit is the main attraction.
I did the Chantry flats to summit to Winter Creek loop. I really enjoyed the initial trail up to Sturtevant Fall and then following the creek up to Sturtevant Lodge. Under tree cover and the flowing stream was very peaceful even with the heavy traffic of lots of hikers.
I thought I was in a little better shape so this distance and the elevation gain was challenging at times.
There was quite a bit of poison oak along the Winter Creek trail so be aware. Most of it was not encroaching the trail too much but be careful.
