We commenced out Mission Peak hike around 7am on a weekday so there were plenty of parking spots still available. Rain was forecast for the late morning so we came prepared.  The hike was actually a lot more difficult than I had expected however we made good pace. You gain a lot of altitude in a short period of time although the trail is nice and wide and in good condition. The views are breathtaking on a clear day and the summit offers 360 degree views of the surrounding area. It was very windy at the summit so we only stopped there for about 10 minutes which was enough time to catch our breath and take a few photos. We decided to do the loop (rather than the out and back – check the attached photos) and I actually enjoyed the back half of the hike a little more. The trail was more rugged and there were steeper sections and we walked right by a flock of wild Turkeys. Overall I really enjoyed the hike and was pleasantly surprised how much it challenged me.
