Day 4 in the Bay Area and Peak #4 of the challenge. Mission Peak is a very straight forward moderate loop that can be accomplish either clockwise or counterclockwise with the same level of ease or difficulty. I read on Alltrails that the clockwise direction descent was very difficult and that you should use the counterclockwise route versus the clockwise route.
So, we took the counterclockwise route up. I saw nothing wrong with or difficult with this route. And, coming down the other side seemed as though it too would be just as easy. Temps today weren't too bad. Likely in the mid-sixties, but most of the trail is exposed. So, on a hot day it could add to the challenge.
My two biggest disappointments on this trail (at the summit) were that 1) some knucklehead decided to vadalize the summit pole by cutting it down. And, 2) that people can be so inconsiderate and just leave their water bottles and trash at the summit. Irritates the hell out of me!
