Hmmm…I just noticed that Mission Peak was added as an alternate peak for this year's challenge. I hiked to Mission Peak, and onward to Monument Peak, a week ago. It was a perfectly clear, blue-sky day, but…wow, it was windy near the tops of both peaks along the ridgeline. Although still muddy in a few places, the only noteworthy obstacle was a pond that had overflowed and submerged a short section of the Peak Trail in 1-2 ft of water; however, an alternate path had been created along the hillside next to it.
