We started just before 8 AM on a very foggy Saturday. We had arrived at 7:30, hoping to start earlier, but the park/ parking lot gates were locked, so we sat in a line of cars waiting to get in.
I say the hike from Ed Levin was the long way because part of our group hikes up Mission Peak every week from Fremont – either Stanford or Ohlone trailheads, which are up to 9 mile hikes, round trip. This was more of half marathon distance.
Again, we were glad to do this one in early spring, as the hills were green, but the hike is entirely exposed, which could be uncomfortable on a hot summer day. Great hike. Almost always a crowd on Mission Peak waiting to take photos with the pole at the top. Fantastic views of the bay.
