We stayed up in SLO at the campground for the weekend and we started this one at 8 am. The parking is on a residential street so get there early before it gets busy. It starts going through a grazing field and pond full of cows! Then from there you head up rocky switchbacks so bring poles and good shoes with grips. People can also climb up the rock or boulder which many people were doing that day. It was nice and cloudy most of the morning while we hiked up, and sunny as we came down. To get to the top of the summit, you have to rock climb after the bench at the end of the trail. This is a popular hike with the locals in the area so it is busy. Dogs are allowed also on the trail. It was a steep short hike that took about 3 hours to complete. Great views of SLO and beautiful flowers on this trai! I paired this with Lizard’s Mouth IPA from Fig Mountain because I felt like a lizard on the rock most of the hike!
