My first hike to Mission Peak. I hiked clockwise. It wide, well maintained service road all the way, until you hit the final 1/2 mile up to the peak. When people say this last half mile is brutal.. believe them. But well worth it. Don’t think I’d want to try that in wet weather though. The views were amazing. I hiked down from the peak and continued clockwise eventually turning into a narrow trail. Very steep and eroded in places. This trail takes you through a couple groves with running stream. Really nice after the dust of the climb up. This trail eventually connected back into the original trail about 1/2 mile from the starting point.

this hike is either climbing or descending all the way. Your knees and toes will feel it after the hike down.
