Beautiful fall day to hike. Last chance to get my sixth peak done. And what a mountain to choose! Whew!
The trail is the most varied trail I have hiked. Beautiful meandering forest trails, small brooks, cross over a fallen tree, cross over on rocks, hike along the cliff's edge, scramble over bare sheets of rocks, mini rock climbing (yes, hold on with your fingertips), and lastly, crawl on all fours over a steep incline to the peak.
I also got lost twice – almost hiked down the wrong trail. I am hoping the trail markers will be repainted soon.
Also, after hiking for 2 hours you see the peak of Mount Chocorua in the distance and it feels completely impossible that you are still so far away, and also, how is it possible to get up that steep peak? This is definitely the most original hike I have done so far. Truly one of a kind. If you want a bit more adventure and challenge in your hikes, I highly recommend it. I am stirring up my courage for next time!
