It was our first time hiking in the snow and I'm so glad that I did my research beforehand because the microspikes came in so clutch! Coming up to the peak from the Dawson Saddle was a bit of a trek having not realized that the distance was greater than that from the Vincent Gap. Regardless, we had some good laughs having fallen in the deep snow along some parts. The trekking poles were useful for avoiding most falls, but what would hiking in the snow be without getting your butt wet?? It was a beautiful day and sunshine at the summit was just perfect for warming us up and helping us to dry out our socks before making the trek down. Plenty of happy faces even on a Superbowl Sunday. I guess others had the same idea as us thinking they would have the mountain all to themselves.
