Wow! The initial ascent is challenging, testing your fortitude and then becoming more gradual in the climb. We climbed this on Veterans Day to raise money for Climb for Heroes which had Camps set up along the way and you earned a coin at each camp. There were encouraging signs along the trail that were both motivating and kept us laughing with the military humor. We hiked this for my Marine Veteran husband with my daughters and girlfriend who came out from Chicago. 3,684 ft elevation gain, 5 hours. We summoned just as they ran out of gold medals – but they’ll be sending those in the mail – an inspiring day all around.
