Took a weekday morning off work and scooted up to the Mt. Baldy trailhead at 7:30a. Considering how busy this hike is on the weekend, seeing an empty parking lot was a breath of fresh cold morning air. After dealing with body aches and pains the last two hikes, I was feeling good and was starting on a peak I was very comfortable with. My route was up to the Ski Hunt, around the bowl, up to the summit then Devils Backbone to the Lodge, and Baldy road back to the trailhead. My pace felt great, the weather was perfect, and the water around the Ski Hut was flowing. After a quick stop for a banana, I kept cruising up to the summit approach, only passing a few down hikers on the way. Once I hit the last switchback, I realized I was going to have Mount Baldy all to myself. I was so thankful for that experience and enjoyed some food and snacks before starting my way down. It was a great feeling do a Baldy loop, without my body complaining in any way. When all was done, I accomplished the loop in 3h49m moving time, while setting a personal best for the accent to the summit.
