Mount Diablo ⛰️ — Sat 6/08

5th peak completed from SF Bay Area Six-Pack of Peaks Challenge.

Started this hike clockwise sharp at 7:30 am. Trailhead has a restroom. Parking fee need to be paid via an app called Yodel ($6/vehicle). Weather forecasted to be partially cloudy but couldn't see a single cloud throughout the day, all over the day it was sunny and warm/host.

Route: Mitchell Canyon Parking Lot > Mitchell Rock > Twin Peaks > Eagle Peak > Diablo Summit > Juiper Campground > Deer Flat Trail > Mitchell Canyon Parking Lot

Trail is super overgrown to some parts so would recommend covering yourself to protect from poisonous oak, insect, thorny bushes and off-course from sun.

Terrain is steep after Twin peaks and filled loose gravels so be very very cautious. Temperature was in high 60's but felt like high 70's. 2 liters of water I started with and refilled 2 liters at the summit.

Summit Museum is a good place to relax, have your snacks, soak in the amazing views, enjoy ice-cream (you can buy from Summit Museum Store), understand Diablo history, use restroom and refill water.

I spent almost 90 mins at the summit. Descend is mostly walking on a fire road, bit boring but it's okay.

Apple watch Stats – Total Miles: 13.43, Total Moving Time: 7 hours and 30 mins, Elevation Gain: 3,828 ft.

This was the second time on Mound Diablo for me, first time I did back in early January, 2022. Overall good hike.

Happy Hiking 🥾🤙
